A safety chamber is created by using double tubes and double tube plates. This
guarantees that the tube and shell media will neither mix nor become contaminated
in the event of
a leak. The safety chamber is empty and can be monitored by
pressure or vacuum.
Alternatively, heat exchange can be optimised
through the use of a neutral liquid in the
safety chamber. In the event of a leak, the pressure in the safety chamber increases
activating an
optical or acoustic signal. The heat exchanger can be repaired or replaced;
emergency shutdown
is not required.
